Interested applicants should register in the first instance by using the Contacts form on this site to send an e-mail with their name and a contact postal address with ‘scholarships’ in the subject field. A competition application form will be posted and/or e-mailed to registered applicants.
  2. Entry is by written application on the competition application form, and must be received at the address of the Musical Theatre School (MTS): Musical Theatre School, Academy Theatre, Market Place, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 5AZ
  3. The final date on which application forms may be received is 1 May 2009. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt.
  4. The Musical Theatre training will be provided by Musical Theatre School in accordance with its standard educational delivery. Unless contrary notice is given, it will be based at Musical Theatre School’s facilities in Shepton Mallet, UK.
  5. ‘Scholarship’ means in the case of the first and second prizes below that the recipient will be exempt from standard MTS tuition fees for the academic year[s] for which the award is made; and in the case of the third and fourth prizes below that standard Musical Theatre School tuition fees will be reduced by (respectively) £2,500 or £1,500 for each of a maximum of three academic years of attendance at Musical Theatre School. Each scholarship is personal to the winner and cannot be transferred.
  6. The judging criteria are entirely at the discretion of WESDA Ltd and the judging panel: their decisions will be final.
  7. There are four scholarship prizes, as follows:
    1. Three-year scholarship with free accommodation and a one-off cash bursary of £1,000
    2. One-year scholarship with free accommodation and a one-off cash bursary of £1,000
    3. A scholarship of £2,500 per year

  9. ‘Free accommodation’ means student accommodation provided by or on behalf of Musical Theatre School, and this is the only accommodation available within the scope of these prizes.
  10. Whilst efforts will be made to accommodate candidates’ availability, it is the responsibility of each candidate to attend one of the competition venues on the given date[s] (to be announced) in order to be eligible for an award.
  11. There is no cash alternative for any or any part of the prizes offered.
  12. If a prize is awarded to a candidate who decides or decides subsequently not to take up the award,  Musical Theatre School reserves the right at its own discretion in that circumstance to offer the prize to another Musical Theatre School student, whether or not he or she entered the competition.
  13. Musical Theatre School reserves the right at its own discretion not to audition any candidate whose application form does not demonstrate that the candidate is or may be suitable for the award of one of the scholarships offered.
  14. Musical Theatre School reserves the right at its own discretion not to award one or more of the scholarships offered where it reaches the decision that there is no suitable candidate for it/them.
